Registration Terms and Conditions
Registration fees apply to the individual and cannot be shared among people from the same firm or company.
Full Conference Registration Includes:
- Admittance to the Exhibit Hall
- Access to all general and breakout educational sessions
- Access to online conference speaker materials
- Admittance to the special events – Welcome Reception, Networking Reception, and Grand Finale Reception
- Access to conference breakfasts, lunches and refreshment breaks
Registration fees are based on membership status (ALA member or nonmember) on the date registration and payment are received (by 11:59 p.m. Central). However, all member rates are contingent on the member renewing their full ALA 2021 membership. Nonmember registration is restricted to individuals who are not currently members of ALA but who do meet the eligibility requirements for ALA membership. Business partners, including legal industry suppliers who are not exhibiting, are not permitted to register as attendees or guests. Exception: All those holding the Certified Legal Manager (CLM)® designation are eligible to register for the conference.
A guest registration may not be used by someone eligible for membership in ALA, a business partner or a supplier who is not exhibiting.
Payment must be received in full by the conference date. All discounts will be applied to the full conference fee only (excluding add-ons), cannot be combined with any other offer‚ and must be paid in full at the time of order.
All registrants will receive written confirmation/receipt of registration. If you do not receive confirmation from the organizers, please contact Customer Service at 1-888-593-7243 or [email protected].
We want to assure you that you can secure your place at the Annual Conference & Expo, knowing that your investment won’t be lost should in-person attendance no longer be possible for you due to the pandemic.
All paid conference registrations will have access to alternative attendance choices such as livestream participation, no-hassle substitutions or transfers to a future Annual Conference & Expo. As we are all facing uncertainty due to COVID-19, we will offer a no-fee cancellation option until June 25, 2021.
In addition, should pandemic circumstances or local restrictions on gatherings/travel be imposed and the in-person 2021 ALA Annual Conference & Expo transitions to a fully virtual event, we will contact you with an update on your registration options.
If you elect to cancel your registration after June 25, 2021, the below cancellation fees and options will be assessed.

Cancellation notifications via social media (e.g., posting on our Facebook page or Twitter) are not accepted. No-shows and late cancellations forfeit the full registration fee. Any requests for refunds of hotel room reservations booked through onPeak must go directly through onPeak by calling 312-527-7270. If hotel reservations were made outside the room block through the hotel or a third party, requests for refunds must go through those avenues.
A substitute from the registrant’s organization or chapter is subject to an administrative fee of $150. The substitute’s registration fee will be adjusted if a nonmember replaces an ALA member. Please submit a written request to [email protected] no later than September 10, 2021, for more information and processing.
Late or on-site substitutions will be assessed a $250 administrative fee.
Health and Safety
The health and safety of our attendees, speakers, sponsors and staff is our number one priority. We closely monitor all local and international alerts regarding public health and proceed according to the local and national health guidelines respective to the location of the Annual Conference & Expo. Attendance at the Annual Conference & Expo remains an individual decision with any considerations to be assessed by the attendee and/or their organization.
By agreeing to be a registered attendee of the Annual Conference, you freely waive, release from liability, assume all risks, and covenant not to sue the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) or American Conference Institute, Inc. (ACI) and its affiliates (or any of their respective members, customers, employees, board members, directors, agents or volunteers) for any expense, loss, damage, personal illness/injury, including loss of life, disability, property damage, or property theft or actions of any kind that they may hereafter suffer or sustain before, during, or after the event. For any concerns and inquiries, please contact our Customer Service team.
The Association of Legal Administrators and American Conference Institute, Inc., will hold this in-person conference when permitted as part of businesses resuming their activities following COVID-19 restrictions in the location of the Annual Conference & Expo (Austin, Texas).
Our conference will be structured and social distancing and other health and safety practices will be implemented in accordance with guidelines issued by the relevant health, safety and regulatory authorities where the conference is held. Decisions regarding the foregoing are made on the basis of our concern for the health and safety of our customers and employees.
We have taken enhanced health and safety measures for the protection of all our attendees, speakers, sponsors and staff. It is imperative that all registrants for the Annual Conference follow all instructions when attending the conference. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. It is extremely dangerous to senior citizens and to any person that has underlying chronic health problems. If you are uncertain as to your health you should not register for the conference until you have consulted a medical adviser about the risks that you may be exposed to.
By registering for the Annual Conference & Expo, you confirm that (a) you are fully aware the risks and hazards with respect to COVID-19 inherent in your attendance and participation at the conference; (b) you freely and voluntarily agree to assume all risks that may result from contracting COVID-19, including the risk of death, bodily injury or property damage, regardless of severity, that you may sustain as a result of your attendance at the conference; and (c) you agree to release the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), American Conference Institute, Inc. (ACI) and its affiliates (including any of their respective members, customers, employees, board members, directors, agents or volunteers) (collectively “Releasees”) from all damages or claims (“Claims”) of any kind that you might suffer if you contract COVID-19, and will not hold any Releasees liable for any such Claims.
You assure us that at the time that you first attend the conference and for the 14 days prior:
- You are not experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
- You have not travelled outside of USA** or in an area under a travel health advisory and
- You have not provided care or had close contact with any person with or reasonably suspected of having COVID-19, or with any person who travelled outside of USA** or to an area under a travel health advisory and
- You have not been advised by any health authority, government agency or regulation to self-isolate due to possible exposure to COVID-19.
**For our Canadian and International members and conference attendees, we continue to follow government recommendations and monitor border closure and travel restrictions/advisories. Please stay tuned for an update to the above policies as it impacts non-U.S. attendance. If you would like to register for the conference, you may do so at any time and rest assured that your investment will not be lost (see worry-free registration).
Association of Legal Administrators Meeting Code of Conduct
The Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) is committed to providing a safe, productive, and welcoming environment for all meeting participants and ALA staff. All participants, including, but not limited to, attendees, speakers, volunteers, exhibitors, guests, ALA staff members and service providers, are expected to abide by this Meeting Code of Conduct (“Code”) whether participating in-person or virtually. This Code applies to all ALA webinars, educational sessions, conferences, meetings and meeting-related events, including those sponsored by organizations other than ALA but held in conjunction with ALA events, whether on public or private platforms (collectively, “meetings”).
ALA has zero-tolerance for any form of discrimination or harassment, including but not limited to sexual harassment by participants or our staff at or during meetings. If you experience harassment or hear of any incidents of Unacceptable Behavior, ALA asks that you immediately inform either April L. Campbell, JD, Executive Director, [email protected] or 847-267-1570, or Renee Tibbetts, Director of Human Resources, [email protected] or 847-267-1365 so that ALA can take the appropriate action.
Unacceptable Behavior includes, without limitation:
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form.
- Verbal or written abuse of any attendee, speaker, volunteer, exhibitor, ALA staff member, service provider, or other meeting participant.
- Examples of verbal and written abuse include, but are not limited to, comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, national origin, inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images in public spaces or in presentations, or threatening or stalking any attendee, speaker, volunteer, exhibitor, guest, ALA staff member, service provider or other meeting participant.
- Disruption of any element of an in-person or virtual meeting. Other behavior, actions or activities deemed disruptive, unacceptable, or contrary to the best interests of ALA as determined by ALA in its sole and absolute discretion.
In addition, the following rules apply to all ALA meetings:
- Presentations, postings, comments and messages may not contain promotional materials, special offers, job offers, product announcements, or solicitations for services. ALA reserves the right to remove such messages and potentially ban source(s) of of such solicitations from its meetings.
- Participants may not copy or take screenshots of Q&A or any chat room activity that takes place in the virtual space.
- All meeting participants must comply with the instructions of ALA staff, session moderators, and presenters.
ALA reserves the right to take any action it deems necessary and appropriate, including immediate removal from a meeting without warning or refund, in response to any incident of Unacceptable Behavior or other violation of this Code, and ALA reserves the right to prohibit attendance at any future virtual or in-person meeting.
Conference Consent Policy
By registering for this ALA conference, you are consenting to receive conference-related communications in addition to sharing your contact information publicly on attendee rosters. You will have the ability to withdraw your consent at any time by contacting [email protected].
Promotional Photos and Videos
Participation at and registration (attendee, guest and exhibitor) for the conference gives consent to the use and distribution of the participants’ image or voice in any pictures, video or audio recordings, or electronic reproductions taken during ALA and ALA-related events for conference coverage and future ALA promotional purposes. ALA is able to use your likeness without remuneration.
